No More Borrowing…

I finally got tired of always borrowing the woodworking equipment that I needed to some jobs around here. So, This weekend I went out and purchased one of these…..

SAWWWW
SAWWWW

It’s a 10 inch Rona Mitre Saw with the ability to cut Bevel’s as well. Complete with Laser guide and Instructions that one SHOULD read from front to back. The first one I had was 1 degree out of center, or so I thought. So, i finished the job I was doing and took it back. No problem taking it back to Rona.

Got a new one and noticed that this one was out as well. I couldn’t believe it.
So Stephanie said, “Why don’t you see if there is an adjustment for it?..”

“Directions, I don’t need no stink’in directions. I don’t got to read no stink’in directions”

After I came to, I dug out the directions and lo and behold there was an adjustment for everything. The Laser, the Fence, the Squareness of the blade, DOH!, so if all else fails RTFM!

So, yeah if anybody has any projects that need cutting feel free to come and borrow it. I have 2 blades for it a 24 tooth and a 40 tooth for finer cuts…Let the cutting begin.

“I’m gonna buy me a saw and cut some wood”

  1. Looks awesome! One day Simon will get something like that. I don’t suppose I could use it one day in the future when I come over, please? I have no problem being tutored or evil-eyed as I’m using it. 😀
I’m thinking of making a small bookcase for M’s new room. I took wood shop in school and really enjoyed it. I have the goggles and ear protection already. I just need to make some plans.

  2. Sure yah, It’s no sweat to operate. If I can operate so can you. I used it to build our CD Cases in our Entertainment room downstairs. They are kind of like your CD Shelves but, made from hand no kit or anything.

Next time your over I’ll give yah the 411.

  3. It sucks that in this day and age there is an assumption that the most likely cause of failure of things is that it’s defective. It’s cheaper for companies to accept a percentage of returns than it is to put airtight quality control on things, so we get trained as consumers to expect it. In this case the saw was fine, but we’ve been trained to conclude that it’s broken out of the box. Consumer experience with buggy and crash-prone software is part of the problem.

It’s too early to be philosophical, but there you go.

It looks like a great saw. Has dad replaced his mitre saw yet?

  4. I don’t think that your Dad has replaced his yet, so he is welcome to use mine anytime he wants…

  5. I thought buying your wife power tools for her birthday was the sure path to divorce??? 😉

Hey, this could make a lot of occasions much easier to manage: Valentines, birthdays, Mother’s Day… 😀

  6. Depends whether it is something you want or she wants!
I don’t think Mother’s day could get much simpler than a card, Simon! Although I do have my Mother’s Day cards from the past several years. I could pass them back to you and you could put 2007 followed by a new greeting!! Actually, that isn’t such a bad idea as cards are so expensive these days.
