Now we have 2 new additions to our family

As you have read previously, we visited the Regal Cat Cafe to interact with potential adoptees. We had made an online adoption request for Hash Brown. Sadly, the expected response time from them was supposed to have been 7-10 days and we didn’t think it was likely we’d get her. (She had been removed from their website and we thought that she had already been adopted hence the trip to the Cafe.) We were very interested in Surge and his sister. Since there was no info about either, I made a call yesterday to find out about them. It turned out they weren’t adopting them out as a pair because they had been returned twice for being too rambunctious. 🤨 They’re kittens. What did the people expect?! In the call, we also found out that Surge already had an adoption pending, but Hash Brown was available. They took her down from the site so that no-one else would apply to adopt her. Yay!

The foster mum called me yesterday afternoon and we made an appointment to see Hash Brown at 3. We arrived and met her and 2 of her daughters. Their story was Hash Brown was a pregnant kitten and she and her litter had been dumped in a green bin. 😳 I really don’t understand some people. 🤬 Luckily they were found, fixed up by the Meow Foundation, and fostered by Samm. They are so energetic; I think it surprised the kids. They also seemed to like us. Samm had adopted one of the remaining daughters, and Miranda wanted us to take Hash Brown and Mash.

I emailed and called MF to let them know we wanted both and could we do the paperwork online. Since the MF has been inundated with adoption requests, we didn’t expect an answer right away, but we were hopeful. We even took a carrier with us. Samm lived in the SE, so we decided to incorporate a visit to IKEA while down there. We could have supper and wait it out in case we could have taken them home today. As it turned out, we could and we did. We stopped at PetSmart to get another carrier and some kitten food then headed back to Samm’s. She gave a us a bag with their papers, some food, and a couple of toys taped to a letter from them.

It was meowing all the way home. Now they’re in our bedroom for the introduction period (3 days??). They slurped down the cat meat. We’ll need to feed them separately. Samm warned us that Hash Brown will let her babies eat all instead of taking her share. We saw that in action this eve. So far Murph has been at our door sniffing and pawing. They are all aware of each other. No hissing yet. I hope it all works out.
