A Visit to the Regal Cat Café

Perhaps spurred on by Stephanie’s adoption antics, we’ve been perusing the adoptable cats at the Meow Foundation lately. That’s the no-kill cat shelter where we met Mr. Murphy. We donate to them regularly. They have a partner venture in the Regal Cat Café, an establishment in the Kensington neighborhood of Calgary. It’s a café where you can get hot drinks and snacks, but also there’s a ton of cat-themed merchandise for sale. And half of the place is a glassed-in room (“Kitty Kingdom”) where there are cats to play with. The cats are up for adoption, so it’s an opportunity to get to meet some kitties if you are interested in getting one. You need to make a reservation and it’s $10 for a half hour in the room.

We made a reservation for the four of us to go there tonight at 7 pm. There were nine cats there, and four were already spoken for. We enjoyed our 30 minutes. There was another young family there with three kids as well. Tammy was as happy as a 🐷 in 💩.

They were a lot of nice cats. The greys were both already adopted. One was sleeping while the other was very playful and intelligent. There was a torbie with interesting markings that also was great and a torbie/white, but they was adopted as well. The most likely of the bunch was Surge the brown tabby. Another possible was Willy Wonka, who seemed a lot like Mr. Murphy.

Surge’s description :

Surge is the warm snuggle you have been looking for. He is content to let the other cats do most of the talking and knows how to be a good listener. He will try to crawl into your lap and make sure you have a dose of love. If you’re looking for a sweet and handsome boy, you’ve met your perfect match.
