If the rest of Canada points and laughs when Victoria gets snow, should I now point and laugh at Calgary when they get rain and it floods?

The highways through the Rockies are closed, several towns are in states of emergency. Even Calgary has activated its Emergency Operations Centre (and no doubt using the software I helped create). Today, I am at home because I was attending a class remotely that was on Eastern time. Now the class is over. I wonder if I have enough documentation to go and get my driver’s license this afternoon?

  1. Good thing you took all those swimming lessons! Seriously, is your area in any danger?…..I know – depends how much rain you get! Fingers crossed for good weather.

  2. I don’t think we are in any danger here. Well above the level of the river, and not in a lowland area. The rain is impressive from time to time.

  3. Okay, so the flooding here is much more serious than I initially posted about. The mayor is telling everyone to stay home if you don’t have to go out, all the schools are closed and two dozen communities are evacuated.

The good news is we are well above the river and in no danger.
