A couple of milestones

Because once you cross them, you know there’s no going back. The first was crossing 100,000 km in the Mazda 5 today:

Stopped off at the playground on the Gorge at Craigflower with the kids in the car on the way to the karate dojo. There have been a lot of fun kilometers in the car, including two trips to California, one to Prince George and another to Portland. Been a very trouble-free 100k, knock on wood. 🙂

The other milestone was at dinner last night: we ran out of pancakes. I have been making pancakes with the same Company’s Coming recipe for… years. And I have always made 1.5 times the recipe, because the straight recipe didn’t make enough. 1.5 has always made enough, even with the kids, until last night. I guess everyone was extra hungry, because even after his third blackberry pancake, Ian asked if I would make him another pancake, because he was still hungry. He had a hot dog instead. I guess it’s doubling the recipe from now on.

In other news, NaNoWriMo is in full swing. Miranda is the queen of us all, dramatically exceeding her expected word count. At this rate she will finish her target word count sometime next week. She’s writing away with a pencil and a notebook. In some ways, it’s distracting to have her writing with me at the table (Tammy hides in the bedroom), because she asks for the right way to spell words every few minutes, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. ❤️

As for Movember, let’s just say my upper lip is just starting to look shadowy. 😀

  1. With Mowvember is it just shaving everything off and starting again? Or do you have to let it grow all scruffy all month?
Re pancakes: wait til the kids are teenagers and they start filling up that hollow let!
See, taking a picture of the 100K is an example of the camera being right there [what we were talking about last visit].
Remember to turn your clocks back. Have a good week. Mom

Movember started clean-shaven. A whole month of shaving my chin! Will I survive? Find out by following the continuing adventures of…
