I got to visit the Calgary Zoo for the first time since their visit of 2014. It was great to see all of the animals, and some were active and some were sleepy or shy. I only saw the speckled back of the Snow Leopard, for example, and the porcupine was hiding in a log.

But our purchase of the Canon EOS camera paid dividends today. I walked around being a wildlife photographer, learning how to use it effectively. The results were pretty darn good.

For the most part, I took stills and video using the automatic settings, but sometimes there was a metal grate or bars in the way and the autofocus would fixate on it, so I had to switch to manual focus.

We were there from a little after 9 to around 1, so it was a long time in the sun and the heat. We’re sore from walking around for two days in a row.

Tonight’s dinner was smokies / hot dogs with potato salad and bean salad. That was fantastic.

Last night, the wind picked up after the kids went out to the tent. Ian (Mr. Slept-in-the-Tent-all-Last-Week) wasn’t phased, but tonight the others are going to sleep indoors. Disappointing, but them’s the breaks.
