One Year in Calgary

Today marks the first anniversary since we took possession of 66 Tuscarora Heights, in Calgary, Alberta. There wasn’t an exact post in the ii News that I can link back to, since the website was down during the move. This takes you back to the mega-post covering the move.

How did we spend the day? Pretty much like any other Saturday. There was a lazy breakfast, then we all went outside and did some gardening. Miranda weeded our “potato garden”, while Ian and I dug out the garden area beside the driveway. Tammy pulled all of the dead stuff out of the garden beside the front porch and supervised everything. Compared to last year, when we were more concerned with getting settled in our house, this year we are staying on top of and improving things in the yard. The apple tree is in bloom, and looks lovely.

That was followed by getting cleaned up and some lunch, before heading out to Staples and to Superstore. Since Mom would like to know, we got some pens, a white out applier and a pen refill at Staples. 🙂 The pen refill is for my five-year Esri desk set at work. I’ve actually used up the ink in it, and I hope this refill fits. Although, I will be due to get the ten-year pen next January.

Tammy barbecued some wieners and smokies for supper. After dinner, while we were watching a show on TV, Miranda started building a Lego spaceship, so I got down on the floor and built one too. Yesterday, I built this one for Ian:

It’s a kit that I got when I was a boy. Thank you to Mom and Dad for holding on to my Lego during the years when Tammy and I were moving from place to place. We’ll have a space Lego playtime tomorrow.

Update: isn’t the Internet a wonderful thing? I found a Lego wiki and here is some info about the Galaxy Commander.

  1. For the record, the pen refill that I bought at Staples fits my pen! Yay!

It is a Franklin Covey gel rolling ball refill. The number on the back of the package is CD611 and the reorder number is 8004-234. So I’ll know in four years or so when I need another.

  2. Then you will have to remember where you noted it! Your tree is beautiful. We enjoyed going through the remembrances. Dad was up on the sun deck roof out back with the power washer cleaning above and below and the wood below in preparation for painting. Hope he doesn’t run out of steam as he has taken on more than he has for a while.

  3. How is Ian doing with his foot? He seemed to be motoring around well on Friday. And the next generation gets to put the lego together!

  4. His foot was somewhat sore and swollen after school today, but he had Advil and a rest and some elevation and he was good enough to go to swimming.
