Took Down the Xmas Lights

Today was a really springlike day. Last week we were down in the minus-twenties again, but maybe this is the real start of spring. Here’s hoping, anyways.

There have been days in the last month where I could have taken down the Christmas lights. In late February there was a gap with no ice on the roof, but the temps were cold or they didn’t line up with the weekend. Today I came home early because this week is the Developer Summit in Palm Springs and I’m going to have some weird long business days as I attend over the Internet. Also, I knew that my package from DHL had arrived. But when I got home, no one was there. Miranda had a doctor’s appointment and Tammy had taken her. Ian was on his way home from school on his bike. So I set about taking down the lower lights, and by the time I was ready to take down the top ones, Ian was home to spot me on the ladder.

A beautiful afternoon sky

Afterwards, I set about opening my package from WatchGecko. It’s a UK company that sells watches, straps and other accessories. I’d ordered a couple of bracelets for my Bulova Suttons. After I got them, I realized that I didn’t care for wearing the leather straps that came with them. They definitely were a great dress look, but for day to day I much preferred a metal bracelet. I got a couple of cheap ones from Amazon to try out, but they didn’t really match the watches (brushed steel against the polished steel of the watch cases). I finally said enough was enough. I hadn’t been wearing them much so decided to get some nice straps that matched their cases.

The silver and rose gold watch got a Zuludiver “beads of rice” diver strap, and the black and silver watch got a stainless steel Milanese band.

I’m really looking forward to enjoying them more.
