New Appliance Day

When we moved in, back in 2013, we bought a washer and dryer pair from Sears. It was a set of Kenmore front-loading appliances, in deep purple of all things. I seem to recall that getting them in purple got a $100 off or something. Not that it mattered: with them tucked away in our minuscule laundry room. They had their work cut out for them, with our family and lots of sports gear to wash.

Last November, the dryer ground to a halt. We called a repairman who got it working again, but he said that it was a temporary fix. We put “replace washer and dryer” on the to-do list.

Then, this past Saturday morning we noticed that the light on the front of the dishwasher was blinking. A quick check of the manual online found that the blinking light meant “call a repairman”. The dishwasher was of indeterminate age, being in the house when we bought it. Rather than mess around, we went to Trail Appliances and selected three new appliances. They were all delivered today, but the dishwasher will be installed tomorrow, so it’s sitting in our living room.

They are:

For the first time, we’ve gotten pedestals for the pair. I’m pretty excited about that: front-loading washers and dryers aren’t friendly to people my height when on the floor.

Tammy was getting funny ideas about counter-top cooking ranges and built-in wall ovens when we were at the appliance store. Some other time, perhaps.
